First Trip to Nainital

Where: Nainital
When: Oct 2004

It was in Oct 2004 when I had my first date with Nainital. Hearing about Nainital had always fascinated me and I was really excited to make a visit to this lake city.

We took up the bus to Nainital from ISBT Anand Vihar, New Delhi and arrived Haldwani early morning where we took a halt. Nainital is another 38 kms from Haldwani which can be reached through a Taxi or Bus. While a Taxi would take upto 1.5 hour, the bus may take upto two and half hour. The journey over the snaky curved road from Haldwani to Nainital offers mesmerising moments. While we unboarded the bus at Tallital, the very first sight of the Naini lake welcomed us with the fresh windy airs and the crystal clear water.

The long walk along the mall road and the Tibeten market was another pleasant experience. The another day, we offered a visit to Naina Devi Temple blessing us with calmness and peace. The another day we took a boat ride in the great Naini lake, paddling the boat. The ropeway ride took us to the snow-view point which offers a bird eye view of Naini lake which appears pear shaped from the snow-view point.
